Well you couldn’t be more wrong! Even the simple act of a hug, a kind word, a pat on the head or a game of catch can make all the difference in the daily life of a shelter animal. They have nothing else to look forward to but the kindness, care and love they receive from volunteers.
Did you ever think that you’d like to volunteer but figure you’re not qualified because you don’t have any special training?
That’s not a problem! There are no special skills required other than a willingness to help and a desire to share a small part of yourself with these animals.
Did you ever think you might like to volunteer but then changed your mind because you think you don’t have enough time?
If you have even just a few hours a month that are free, that is enough. Volunteering means giving as little or as much of your time as you feel you can give. Any time that you can give, will be appreciated and will make a huge difference to these animals.
At CVAS there are a variety of ways that you can help..
- Walking and running adult dogs and puppies
- Playing with dogs, kittens and puppies
- Grooming and bathing animals
- Cleaning animal living areas
- Assisting with feeding and medication
- Training dogs and puppies
- foster families
- Transportation of animals between partner shelters
- Photographing and making videos of the animals for the website
In addition, we need people to help with:
+ Event planning
+ Fundraising and public relations
+ Production of promotional materials (brochures, flyers, videos, etc)
+ Pick-up and delivery of donations and supplies
+ Construction and repair projects
+ Office administration
We are located near Highway 395, approximately three miles south of downtown Colville. The facility is open to volunteers on weekdays between the hours of 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, and on weekends by special arrangement.
