Little Prince

On a very cold and wet fall morning, this little kitten of about 7 weeks old, was found huddled up and miserable on a rural country road. He was all alone, no litter mates or mother to be found. Cold, wet, hungry and sick, I cannot imagine the fear that this little one must have been feeling.

When we were called to see if we could take this kitten, we were full to overflowing (as we almost always are) with kittens and did not have the room, but how does one say “ no “ when a little life is hanging in the balance?

When this little boy was brought to us, he was in very bad shape, his eyes literally glued shut from infection, and he was so cold and so hungry. The very first thing we did was to get his eyes open so we could see the extent of the damage. Luckily his eyes were still intact and could be saved. We began treatment immediately.

What a thrill it was when he finally woke up, and looked at us, with his greatly improved and healing eyes, as if to say, “ Where Am I? Can I have some more of that wonderful soft food? I am so hungry!

After a week of good food and medical care, our scraggly little kitten was beginning to look like a completely different cat! His eyes required a few weeks more of continued care, but they responded very well to the medication. We decided to name him “ Little Prince “ because he became so spoiled with all the love and attention, he acted just like Royalty.

Little Prince is a very lucky little fellow. If he’d been left alone much longer, he would certainly have lost his eyesight and probably would have died. But because he was in the right place at the right time, and because he was brought to a shelter that does it’s very best to not say “ NO “, Little Prince has a second chance at life. A chance to find a loving family and to live a happy life.

We told Little Prince that it is because of our amazing supporters that we can save kittens like him. And that it is our generous, kind and compassionate supporters that make it possible for us to keep our doors open to the cats and dogs that need us.

Here is Little Prince today, he is going to be an absolutely gorgeous boy. Little Prince is now completely healed and ready to find his forever home. If you are searching for a wonderful feline companion, please come and meet this sweet and oh so lucky little kitten.

We spay and neuter all of the animals in our care and actively promote, through financial donations and community support, the effort to reduce the number of unwanted animals in Stevens County. By example and through education, we promote and advance the values of responsible pet ownership and the humane treatment of animals.
