Our kitties had a photoshoot the other day and we are so pleased with the way Mandie of Image du Jour Photography was able to capture their true beauty, personalities and little quirks that I wanted to share them with you.
All of these kitties need a home, some of these kitties are ferals that were trapped and neutered, but were not able to be released back where they came from for one reason or another. So we are trying to find good “Barn Cat” opportunities for them, if you would be willing to care for a barn cat or two on your property, or in your shop, in exchange for the benefits of their amazing hunting abilities, please, please let us know!
Ok here they are!
This beautiful boy is really a miracle. He is part of a rescue which we did recently (of which I will write about soon). An absolutely awful hoarding situation where nearly 30 animals were found dead and a dozen others including this little guy, were barely hanging on. You would think that would make this kitty shun people but he LOVES everyone, including other cats, dogs and children too. He has so much going against him he just needs someone special to give him a second chance at a decent life. Not only is he a black kitty, but he is Fiv +.
Now this is not as bad as you might think. He could co-exist just fine in a home with other non-aggressive kitties, since Fiv is passed by blood transfer only, if there is no fighting or serious biting there would be no threat to other kitties. Or he could be a wonderful companion in a one kitty household. We are just about begging for someone to give this guy a loving home!
This handsome boy is Brad Pitt…I’m sure you can see why!
And this lionesque fellow is Buff. He is also Fiv+ and in need of an understanding special someone to give him a break and a loving home. He and the beautiful black boy above, get along very well and could go to a home together!
This is Charlie, he is one of our kitties who is seeking a career as a barn cat, he is an excellent mous-in-ator! But seriously, Charlie is not a feral cat, instead he came from an absolutely unspeakable hoarding situation, and no, it is not the same hoarding situation that the little black kitty came from. Hoarding is unfortunately more common than you might think. But unlike our friendly loveable little black kitty, Charlie will probably never trust a human again. We have tried working with him, very patiently and for many many hours, but with absolutely no progress. He wants nothing to do with humans, and who can blame him. So the best solution for him is life in a safe, cared for, barn cat type “home”.
We call these handsome boys the Feral Brothers…they are also seeking jobs in the pest control department. Neutered, vaccinated and ready to go!
Hank here is another barn cat hopeful. He is not a feral cat, he came from the same hoarding situation as Charlie did and despite our best efforts to befriend him, it is apparent that Hank will also never trust a human again. I can’t even begin to imagine what these two kitties went through…
Lacey here has a slightly different problem. She came from the home of a developmentally disabled woman who recently died. The woman was not able to care properly for Lacey and kept her locked in a kennel much of the time. Lacey had nothing to do but eat, and that is what she did. She is now an obese kitty in need of a home where her food intake will be carefully and safely controlled so she can get down to a healthy weight. Lacey is shy but responds readily to attention and would open up beautifully in the right household and with loving attention. We think she is 7 years old or so.
Louise is cute as a button! She is also a mighty hunter in need of a cozy barn in which to stalk her prey.
Mack is peeking to see if the coast is clear! He is looking for barn cat opportunities too!
Maddie is gorgeous and she knows it! She’s got Cat-i-tude!
And last but certainly not least is Tessie. You will have to excuse her she was having a bad day. She doesn’t want to talk about it she just wants someone to open the barn door and show her where the mice are already! Geez…
